How to Make a WiFi QR Code
"What's the WiFi password?" is probably the most asked question at any cafe, office or Airbnb. A WiFi QR code answers it for you. Guests scan it with their phone camera and connect, with no typing and no mistakes.

What a WiFi QR code does
The code stores your network name and password. When someone scans it, their phone offers to join the network. They never see or type the password.
How to make one
Open the Zebra QR generator and choose WiFi.
Enter your network details: the network name, the password and the security type your router uses.
Choose the size and colors of your code.
Download it as SVG, PNG or JPG.
Test it with your own phone before printing.
Not sure of your security type? Check your router settings or the label on the router. Most home and business networks today use WPA or WPA2.
Where to put your WiFi QR code
On the counter or table of a cafe or restaurant
In the reception area of an office or clinic
In a guest room, with a short note like "Scan to connect"
In a short-term rental, in the welcome guide
At events, on signs and on badges
Print it large enough to scan comfortably, and keep clear space around it.
Good to know
It is a static code. The network details live inside the code, and static codes do not expire. Not sure what that means? Read Dynamic vs. Static QR Codes: Which One Does Your Business Need? and What is a QR Code?
If you change your WiFi password, make a new code. The old one still holds the old password, so replace the printed copy.
Use a guest network. Share a guest network instead of your main one, so visitors never get access to your private devices.
Keep the password private. Anyone with the code can connect, so place it only where you are happy for people to join.
